Automatically sync your LiveWall photos to Google Drive

Connect your Google Drive account and automatically sync all photos from your walls to a dedicated LiveWall folder

Want to store the photos collected through your LiveWall in Google Drive? Now you can automatically sync everything to your personal Google Drive account.

When you connect your Google Drive account to LiveWall, we'll create a dedicated "LiveWall" subfolder in your Drive where all your photos will be automatically transferred. This makes it easy to access your photos from anywhere in Google's ecosystem.

The integration works seamlessly in the background - once enabled, new photos uploaded to your walls will instantly appear in your Google Drive. If you already have photos in your wall when you enable the integration, LiveWall will transfer all existing files as well.

How it works

The Google Drive integration uses Google's official APIs to securely transfer your photos. When you enable the feature, you'll go through Google's standard user interface to grant LiveWall permission to create files in your Drive. LiveWall only requests the minimum permissions needed - we can create files in the LiveWall folder but cannot access any of your other Google Drive content.

Once connected, LiveWall monitors your walls for new uploads and automatically transfers copies to your Google Drive. The original files remain on LiveWall, so that you and guests can continue using all LiveWall features including downloading photos as a ZIP file.

Setting up Google Drive sync

To enable Google Drive synchronization, log in to go to your Profile Page and then click "Connect Google Drive". You'll be redirected to Google's authorization page where you can review the permissions and connect your account.

After authorizing LiveWall, you'll see a confirmation that your Google Drive is connected. There is a test button to verify that the integration works.

File organization and naming

All synced files are placed in a "LiveWall" folder at the root level of your Google Drive. Within this folder, files are organized by wall title, so if you have multiple walls, each will have its own subfolder.

The file naming convention preserves the original filenames from your LiveWall uploads. If there are any naming conflicts, LiveWall will append a number to ensure all files are preserved.

Sync timing and behavior

New photos uploaded to your walls will typically appear in Google Drive within seconds. However, when you first enable the integration or if you have a large number of existing photos, it can take up to 30 minutes before the initial sync starts.

The sync is one-way from LiveWall to Google Drive. Changes made to files in your Google Drive folder (like renaming or deleting) will not affect the original files on LiveWall.

Supported file types

The Google Drive integration supports all file types that LiveWall accepts, including:

  • JPEG images (.jpg, .jpeg)
  • PNG images (*.png)
  • HEIC images (*.heic)
  • MP4 video files (*.mp4)
  • MOV video files (*.mov)

Files are transferred in their original quality and format - no compression or conversion is applied during the sync process.

Privacy and security

LiveWall takes your privacy seriously. The Google Drive integration uses OAuth 2.0, the industry standard for secure authorization. LiveWall never sees or stores your Google account password.

The integration only requests permission to create files in your Google Drive - we cannot read, modify, or delete any of your existing Google Drive content outside of the LiveWall folder we create.

You can revoke LiveWall's access to your Google Drive at any time through your Google Account settings. If you disconnect the integration, existing synced files will remain in your Google Drive but no new files will be transferred. If you reconnect, LiveWall will start syncing from the point it stopped so that all files are eventually transferred to your Google Drive.

Managing your connection

You can view and manage your Google Drive connection on the User Profile page. When you initially connect Google Drive, LiveWall will enable the feature for all your walls. You can toggle the setting for each individual wall on their respective Settings pages.

If you encounter sync issues, use the Test button to verify connectivity, and disconnect and reconnect if necessary. This may be necessary if you have not transferred files thorugh LiveWall for several months.

Storage considerations

Files synced to Google Drive count toward your Google Drive storage quota. If you're approaching your storage limit, you may need to upgrade your Google Drive plan or manage your synced files to ensure continued syncing.

LiveWall will attempt to continue syncing even if your Google Drive is full, but Google's API may reject new files. We recommend monitoring your Google Drive storage to ensure smooth operation.
