Find answers to common questions about LiveWall, our photo and video sharing solution for events.
LiveWall is a free QR code photo sharing app for events, weddings, parties, and celebrations. Guests scan a QR code to instantly share photos and videos - no app download required. Photos display live on screens, in a private feed, and can be downloaded in full resolution. Perfect for weddings, corporate events, birthdays, conferences, festivals, and any gathering where you want to collect and share memories instantly.
The wall displays photos automatically as they are taken. Open it on a big screen, with a projector, or through front of house if you have a production agency, and let your guests share photos instantly with the rest of the crowd.
The feed lets you and guests see photos on your smartphones - a bit like social media, but LiveWall is private to you and your guests - and with no ads or distractions.
There are many options for organizing your content on LiveWall. You can sort your content as in a scrapbook on the Polaroid wall. You can Hide photos and videos you don't want to see, but bring them back any time. (You can delete photos too, but then they are gone forever.) You can also mark your Favourites, and keep them in a separate folder for easy access. You can also create multiple walls, and move photos and videos between them, and share their individual links and QR codes with your guests. You can purchase multiple Plus or Premium walls depending on your needs, or use Signature which lets you create an unlimited number of walls for a full year.
LiveWall Signature lets you create an unlimited number of walls, and move photos and videos between them to organize your content. Each wall has separate settings and QR codes, so you can let guests upload to different walls to keep things tidy.
Guests scan your QR code or use a link you've shared with them. They can snap photos with the LiveWall Camera, or upload photos from their smartphones or laptops.
LiveWall will send you an email whenever someone uploads to your wall. You'll receive an email within half an hour of the upload. You can disable these notifications in the walls Settings page or for all walls by clicking the disable (unsubscribe) link in the footer of the notification emails.
Yes, guests can be notified when someone uploads to your wall. They can enter their email address when they access your feed, and will receive regular email updates with thumbnails of new photos and videos. Guests will receive on average one email per day, but a little more at the start and after longer periods without any uploads. Guests can follow any number of walls, and will receive consolidated updates from all walls they follow. You can disable this feature in the Feed section of your wall's Settings page. This feature requires LiveWall Premium or Signature.
The upload page lets guests upload photos to your wall from their smartphones or laptops, but offers no way to see any of the photos - like a bank's deposit box, but for photos.
Yes, LiveWall provides a camera that runs in the browser on all modern smartphones and tablets. There is no need to download and install an app.
Yes, it is possible to upload from the camera roll, use the built-in camera on the smart phone, or any other camera app. Native camera apps offer many features the LiveWall Camera does not have, and generally provide superior image quality. You can also turn this off, if you want to ensure only fresh snaps taken with the LiveWall Camera (but most of our users prefer to let guests use their own apps and also upload photos after the event is over).
Yes, LiveWall Premium supports videos of up to 10 minutes length in full 4K. LiveWall Signature supports videos of up to 30 minutes length. Click here to read more about video support.
We are enforcing reasonable use limits on LiveWall Free. For Plus and Premium, we have not set any hard limits. It will work for events with hundreds of guests and thousands of photos. With LiveWall Premium you can upload videos of up to 10 minutes, with Signature up to 30 minutes each. If you run events where you expect more than 500 people sharing photos and accessing the feed, please click here to see our Pro Pricing page for a package that will work for you.
We've designed LiveWall to support photos up to 75 megapixels. This allows you to upload max resolution from most top-model smartphones and most professional cameras. If you shoot in higher resolution and upload from a Mac or a PC, you should downsample the photos before uploading to LiveWall, this gives you full control of the processing and JPEG compression. On smartphones LiveWall will automatically downsample to 48MP if the photo is larger to ensure reasonable transfer times, data usage, and our servers health. The maximum file size for photos is 100MB.
We've designed LiveWall Premium to support videos of up to 10 minutes length and up to 4K (4096x2160) resolution. LiveWall Signature supports videos of up to 30 minutes length. The maximum file size for videos is 1GB. When testing with LiveWall Free you can upload up to 10 videos of up to 2 minutes to test the product, with a file size limit of 100MB.
We have storage servers all across the globe connected to the world's fastest internet backbone. Upload speeds will therefore only be limited by your mobile or wifi connection. LiveWall uploads multiple photos and videos at the same time to make sharing photos as fast and effortless as at all possible.
Yes, with our paid plans you can download all your photos and videos one by one, have them automatically delivered to your Google Drive, or download or everything in one go as a ZIP file. We store the original high-resolution photos and videos (exactly as uploaded) so all media retain its original quality.
You can choose to do so! Share the feed to allow anyone to follow your event from their smartphone and see and download all photos and videos.
Yes, you can let guests download photos and videos from the feed. This is a setting under Feed on your Settings page. Downloads will be in full resolution, exactly as uploaded to the server. You can also share the download link to the ZIP file after the event to let everyone download all the high-resolution content.
LiveWall is private, privacy first, and secure. Only those you share your private links with can see your photos. With our paid plans you can password protect your wall, and optionally also enable end-to-end encryption which protects your photos with industry grade encryption so that no person or machine can see your photos without your pass phrase.
Yes, it does! When you download the ZIP file on your iPhone, it lands in the Files application. Click the ZIP file and it will be extracted to a folder. You can now see all the photos in that folder. We recommend you hit Select, then Select All, and then the Share icon and Save to Photos. Now everything from LiveWall will be stored together with your other photos, and backed up to iCloud if you have that. (This works almost the same on Android.)
LiveWall can automatically save any photos and videos uploaded to your wall to Google Drive. All photos are delivered in near real time so you can access them in Google Drive and Google Photos. LiveWall still retains a copy of your original file so you and guests can download from the LiveWall interface too. Click here to read more about the Google Drive integration here.
Many of our users use just the feed, or even LiveWall entirely as a convenient way to collect photos from many different people with the upload page.
Nope - you can disable the feed if you want, or keep it just for yourself. You control if guests can see it or not. (However, the Feed is now one of our most popular features, and our statistics show that events that share the feed with guests collect much more photos then those that use LiveWall purely as an upload site.)
Yes, you can protect your wall with a password if you purchase one of our paid plans. This will require anyone accessing your feed or wall to enter the password before they can see the photos. You can provide a password hint to help the users remember the password or deduce it; you don't have to use this feature and should be smart about it.
If you enable end-to-end encryption on a paid plan, your browser will create a keyring and protect it with a passphrase. The passphrase is stored in your browsers local storage, and never sent to us. The public part of the keyring will be distributed to anyone uploading or snapping photos, so that the photos can be encrypted or their devices. When the photos reach your device, which has the private key and the passphrase, they can be decrypted and displayed.
If you enable end-to-end encryption and forget the passphrase, your photos will be lost. We will not be able to recover them, and you will not be able to decrypt them. We recommend that you write down the passphrase and keep it in a secure location, or better yet use a password manager to store it.
If you set a password on your wall, we require the user to provide that password to access the photos. You can change or remove the password at any time. If you enable End-to-end-encryption, you add another layer of cryptographic security on top of the encryption we already apply for transport and storage in LiveWall. If you lose the passphrase for E2EE, your photos and videos will be unrecoverable. Use E2EE for truly sensitive data, and password protected walls for everyday use.
By upgrading to LiveWall Premium or Signature you can enable our automatic safety filter, which protects you from embarassing moments as Not Safe for Work photos are automatically rejected. You can also enable manual moderation, so that you or people you designate have to approve every photo before they are shown on the wall or shared with guests.
We want to make it very easy to collect and share photos and videos, so we're using secret links instead of user accounts by default. This means you can start testing and using LiveWall without the hassle of creating an account (or sharing your email with us), and you can share the link with anyone you want to join in on the testing. When you register or purchase a paid plan, we will create a user account for you, and you can log in to manage your walls and account details. We will send One-Time-Passwords to your email address, so you can log in to your account. As of September 2025, you can also log in with your Google account if it has the same email address.
Yes. Every LiveWall has its own private link, and there are more link possibilities than atoms in the universe. You decide who to share it with — it’s like sending an invitation. Only the people with that link can see or upload, and your files stay safe. If you're worried that the link gets spread, set a password on your wall. Guests can upload even if you decide not to share the content with them. LiveWall rejects bots from accessing your content.
Yes, OTPs are both secure and easy to use. However, they depend on the security of your email provider. We recommend that you use a secure and trusted email provider, have a strong and unique password, don't reuse the same password for other sites, and that you protect your email account with multi-factor authentication. Your LiveWall account and content is only as secure as your email account. As of September 2025, LiveWall also supports single-sign-on with Google.
When you download your files from LiveWall, the ZIP file will also contain a file called photobook.pdf. LiveWall creates a photo book with the photos from your event. This feature is currently in beta.
Yes, you can embed a carousel with photos from LiveWall on your website. Click the Share icon on the Feed when logged in, then the Embed button and copy the code into your website. The carousel will show the photos you have marked as favorites, or if you have no favourites, it will randomly select 20 photos from your wall. LiveWall is compatible with Squarespace, WordPress and most other CMS systems. This feature is currently in private beta, contact support to have it enabled for your wall. It will become available to all Signature users in November/December 2025. Check out our Coffee Blog post to see it in action.
LiveWall is designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, in accordance with guidelines from the Green Software Foundation. We're using the most environmentally friendly data centers in the world, offload processing to the smartphones where photos are taken, limit network traffic to the absolute minimum, keep data close to where you use it, and the server side of the solution is designed to Scale To Zero, which means it does not emit carbon at all when not in use. LiveWall has now served more than 10000 events with more than 30.000 users monthly - and total lifetime emissions equate to 7.7kgCO2e, or the equivalent of one gallon of gasoline. We donate 3% of our profits to environmental and social causes, and we're planting trees to ensure we're a carbon-negative company. (Red Panda conservation is the other cause we support at the moment by our kids choice.) As LiveWall grows and stabilizes, we aim to increase the share of our profits going to donations.
We are not training AI models, and will not grant anyone access to your photos or videos. Our site rejects all well-behaving crawlers from accessing user content, so your content will not be discoverable by those big spiders that feed the giant AI monsters. To be completely sure a leaked link does not feed the evil bots, protect your wall with a password or End-to-End Encryption and no bot on the planet will be able to access your data.
LiveWall uses only strictly necessary cookies to provide you and your guests with the service functionality, keep you logged in, make sure you don't lose any content or walls you create, and be certain you are a human user, not a bot. We do not use third-party cookies, and do not let ad networks track you. Check us with Blacklight from The Markup; then check a couple of our competitors to compare.
You can invite your friends, share your links, gather photos and let anyone enjoy them. So yes, it may look like social media, but LiveWall is different. First, we're not trying to build anything like social media, just a nice and easy way to gather and share photos and videos. Secondly, no content is discoverable unless you have been given a private link to it. Think of it as a private chat, run by a company that respects your privacy and does not track you or any of the users.
Drive and Dropbox are made for storage. LiveWall is made for events. Guests don't need accounts or apps, they just upload straight in. You get live updates, email notifications, likes and comments to keep people engaged while the event is happening — not just a folder full of files afterward. After your event, download everything from LiveWall and keep it in whatever cloud storage you prefer. LiveWall can even deliver directly to Google Drive as guests upload.
Group chats fill up fast with blurry, compressed photos and endless scrolling. Storage gets messy, and nothing is easy to find later. LiveWall keeps everything in one place, in full quality, ready to download or show instantly.
Those are great for sending a handful of files to one person nearby. But when you need to collect hundreds of photos and videos from lots of people, over days or weeks, they don't cut it. LiveWall gives you a single link anyone can use, whether they're at the event or halfway across the world.
You have options to choose from, and that is great! LiveWall came about as an experiment on designing Green Software (see below) and from a streaming protocol designed for a computer vision machine learning project. We're using the best of modern cloud technologies, which means we can operate with very little (or no) overhead, and therefore offer LiveWall at a very competitive price. We try to make it user friendly and fun, and believe the market is a big ocean where many boats can sail. If you find LiveWall is a great match for you, we're happy to have you on board! Plus, we take privacy and security very seriously. Your data is protected by Norwegian Privacy Laws which are among the strictest in the world. We do not track you nor your guests. In fact, we have no idea if our ads work or not, we can only deduce from revenue at months end. We're the only provider that offers end-to-end encryption - which means neither we nor anyone else can see what you share.
You and your guests can upload photos to your event for 90 days after the event has started. This should give you ample time co collect photos also after the event - some folks may need some time to curate and choose what they want to share. With LiveWall Signature, you can upload photos and videos for a full year.
The Terms of Service says 'Your content will be stored for one year from the start of your event'. We understand you need time to plan an event, and may need to distribute QR codes and links to your guests in good time before your event. You can therefore buy LiveWall in good time before your event. We assume your event has started when the wall has more than 100 photos, and will keep your photos for one year from that point. You can see the event start date on your User Profile page (after login). This could take a days, weeks, months, or even years. You decide.
We're using Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, Azure, to run LiveWall and store your data. We're operating storage servers in the US, UK, Germany, Sweden, UAE, Singapore, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia. We're selecting the best storage location for you based on your current location when you create a wall. We store three copies of all content to prevent any single point of failure. You can read all about our storage system in our blog
If we see that you have not downloaded your photos, we will send you a reminder email in good time. You can save that ZIP file in Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive or on any antiquated storage device and drive it to your grandmother's to keep it safe. If you want to keep using LiveWall, you can buy it for another year, otherwise the bits and bytes from your wall and content will be permanently deleted.
Wedding Planners can purchase LiveWall on behalf of their clients. Access to the wall can be shared with your team, vendors, and the couple during or after the event. After the event, ownership of the wall and all content can be transferred to the couple with the Transfer option on the Settings page. Be creative - there are many ways to build value adding services. Read our blog post for wedding planners for more information and ideas.
Wedding Photographers can extend their services with LiveWall. Use it as an upsell to your clients, so that they get photos and videos from guests that you could not have captured. Pair it with a second shooter that delivers to a live wall during the event for the couple and guests to see. Use it to deliver your own photos and videos after post production, and transfer ownership of the wall to the couple so they can easily share photos with their friends and family, download them, or keep using LiveWall as an album.
Event venues can use LiveWall as an interactive element as part of their offering. Showcase the QR codes and the live wall on monitors on your venue, and encourage attendees to share photos and videos with the rest of the crowd. Hire a photographer to capture professional photos of attendees so everyone can easily download them after the event. Transfer the ownership of the wall to your client after the event so that they can easily download and share the photos. With the Signature or our Professional plans you can also embed the best photos on your website to showcase your venue and services.
Definitely. It’s not just for weddings. Sports teams, schools, hobby groups, and online communities all use LiveWall to collect and share their photos and videos. One simple shared album, without filling up chats or inboxes or everybody's Dropbox accounts.
Absolutely. We have dedicated plans with white labelling and personalized support for event production companies. See our Professional Pricing for more information.
Absolutely. Set up the wall and pay for it using your own email address. When you are ready, initiate a transfer from the Settings page. The recipient will receive an email with a confirmation link and optionally a message from you. The wall will be transferred to a new account in their name after they accepted the transfer.
FTP is a protocol for transferring files between a client and a server. With FTP, professional cameras can upload directly to LiveWall. It is a simple and efficient way to transfer many files, and you can find client applications on both Mac and PC, for instance FileZilla, Cyberduck, or WinSCP. Click here to read more about the FTP integration.
Zapier is a tool that allows you to connect your LiveWall to other tools you use. For instance, you can send content from LiveWall to Hootsuite or Buffer to make it easy to share content on social media. You could create an entry in a Google or Excel sheet every time a guest uploads. Or you could connect LiveWall to your Google, Dropbox, OneDrive, or to any storage service that supports Zapier to automatically download any file sent to LiveWall. Only creativity will stop you, and Zapier is just about the coolest tool out there for making stuff happen across the web. Click here to read more about the Zapier integration.

LiveWall is freshly grown software. Completely organic, vegan some days with occassional BBQ's other days, and made with 💖 in Norway 🇳🇴 and Switzerland 🇨🇭. We're really enthusiastic about photography, and our contribution is software for photographers. We hope people take more photos and share the really good ones with the world. Startups are so hyped these days; we're more of a lifestyle business - some folks trying to make a living by making good software products and making it available to the world at reasonable prices.
When you know LiveWall is right for you, you can safely make your purchase, even well in advance of your event. This gives you time to print QR codes, distribute links to guests and be prepared, even practice using it. LiveWall will consider your event started when you have uploaded 100 photos, so it does not matter if your event is many months away when you make the purchase. You could also buy it a minute before your event starts, if that is your cup of tea.
Nope, LiveWall is a one-time purchase, and we do not keep your payment information on record. You can of course purchase more walls if you need one for another event in the future.
Your LiveWall goes back to free after a year, and you can purchase it again to keep using it. We will send you a reminder email in good time, but we also recommend you set a calendar reminder if it is important to you.
If for any reason you are not happy or end up not using LiveWall, we offer a 30-day no questions asked money back guarantee. Please sign up and test the free trial before you make a purchase - this lets you see all the options and features we offer (although you can't enable all of them), and helps you make an informed purchase (refunds cost us money in transaction fees).
LiveWall Free lets you easily test and see if LiveWall is right for you, or run spontaneous events. We'll keep your wall and photos for 24 hours, or 7 days if you register with your email address. You may upload a reasonable amount of photos, currently that limit is set to 10 for temporary walls and 100 when you register with an email address. There are usage limits to prevent abuse.
LiveWall Plus is a paid upgrade with more options and features. It is not a subscription, only a one-time fee per wall you choose to upgrade. In short, you can upload as many photos as you want, and we'll keep them safe for a full year.
LiveWall Premium is a paid upgrade with even more options and features. Most importantly, you can upload videos of up to 10 minutes length, not just photos.
LiveWall Signature is our top-tier plan. Unlimited Walls. 1 Full Year to Upload. Use multiple walls to organize your guests and content. Showcase your content by embedding LiveWall on your website. Use advanced features such as FTP to upload directly from pro cameras and integrate with other web applications using Zapier.
